Connect an AI agent (MCP)

Sumi Studio is also a remote MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and any MCP client can use your own account to generate images, video and audio, manage assets and build canvases. Everything an agent does is charged to your credits, at the same prices as the website.

Set it up once

Open the connection page (/connect) from MCP in the left sidebar. Pick the agent you use, copy the prompt or the server address, and follow that agent's steps. Agents that manage their own MCP servers (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) follow the prompt directly; Claude and ChatGPT need the server address entered in their connector settings.

On the first call your browser opens the Sumi Studio sign-in page. After signing in, read the permissions the agent asks for, uncheck any you don't want to give (at least one must stay), then click Allow. The browser returns to the agent and the connection is ready.

What an agent can do

  • Browse models and skills, get quotes, create generation tasks;
  • Wait for tasks to finish, read results, cancel tasks;
  • List and download your assets, upload new ones;
  • Read and create projects and canvases, place assets on a canvas, edit canvas content;
  • With the matching permissions, also manage skills, workspace files, video edits, the trash, share links and voice cloning;
  • Ask you in the conversation when a decision is yours to make.

Each permission on the approval page is a separate switch. An agent with only read permissions can't start paid tasks; when it needs more later, it brings you back to the approval page.

Cost and safety

The price shows before every generation, and the agent spends the same credits as the website. When in doubt, ask the agent for a quote first. Tasks an agent starts show up in your task list and history like any other.

The approval page shows the app's name and where the browser returns after you approve. Self-registered apps are marked "Unverified app"; continue only when you started the connection yourself.

Manage connected agents

Settings › Authorized apps lists every connected agent with its permissions, when it connected and when it was last used. Disconnect anytime: it loses access immediately and has to reconnect. Changing your password signs out your other devices and also disconnects every agent.

If an agent reports that the server is unavailable, a site administrator may have paused agent access for now; the page that MCP in the sidebar opens explains this at the top.
