Teams and settings

If you want to create on the same canvas with other people, you need a team. This chapter covers creating a team, roles and permissions, and real-time collaboration.

Create a team and share credits

  • Go to the Teams page (/teams; signing in is enough, no special permission) and click Create, then enter the team name and an optional description; the creator becomes the owner. While you have no team, Create team in the account menu opens the same dialog; once you have one, it shows My teams instead;
  • A team has a shared credit pool, and generations in team projects draw from it, while your personal projects still use your own credits; the owner can Recharge pool, and the team page also has team assets and Pool transactions;
  • To put a canvas under a team: in Profile in the account menu, switch to the Team projects tab, pick a team you have rights in, and click New canvas; or click New team canvas on the team's page.
Teams page: your teams and the Create button; open a team to invite members and manage the shared credit pool

Roles and permissions

Four levels, from lowest to highest:

  • Viewer: can only view team canvases, not edit them, and doesn't see rename / duplicate and similar entries;
  • Editor and above: can edit team canvas content and create canvases under Team projects;
  • Admin and above: can invite / remove members, change member roles and delete team canvases;
  • Owner: can also Make owner someone else to hand over the team, or dissolve the team (team projects move to the owner and the pool balance returns to the owner); non-owners can Leave team at any time, while the owner must transfer or dissolve first.

Invite members: on the team's page, admins and above can add people by email directly, or create an invite link (enter their email, which need not be registered; the default role is Editor); you can also turn on the team join link, where people apply and an admin approves.

Real-time collaboration cues

On a team canvas, other people's cursors show live with name labels; when someone selects a node, it gets a colored outline and a "someone is editing" label; the top shows "N online". These are display-only cues and never stop you from editing and saving.
