Tips and FAQ

This last chapter rounds up common shortcuts, what the save states mean, and a few frequent questions. Key combinations are written as "⌘/Ctrl + key": Mac uses the first, Windows / Linux the second; ⌥ is Alt and ⇧ is Shift.

Common shortcuts

  • Generate (a selected generatable node): ⌘/Ctrl + Enter;
  • Open the Add node menu: Tab;
  • Delete selection: Delete or Backspace (won't run while you're typing in a field, so you don't delete by accident);
  • Undo / redo: ⌘/Ctrl + Z, ⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Z (Ctrl + Y also works on Windows), up to 150 undo steps;
  • Copy node to the in-app clipboard: ⌘/Ctrl + C; paste: ⌘/Ctrl + V; Duplicate: ⌘/Ctrl + D; Alt + drag also copies a node, and ⌘/Ctrl + Alt + drag copies it with its links;
  • Link: ⌘/Ctrl + L; copy an image to the system clipboard: Copy image in the node's right-click menu (with an image node that has a result selected);
  • Group / ungroup: ⌘/Ctrl + G, ⌘/Ctrl + Shift + G; storyboard group: ⌘/Ctrl + Alt + G; auto-layout: ⇧⌥F;
  • Zoom: ⌘/Ctrl + = / -, fit view: ⌘/Ctrl + 0 or ⇧1; marquee / hand / pen annotation: V / H / P; hold Space and drag to pan.

The Shortcuts button on the left toolbar opens a cheat-sheet panel anytime; if it shows keys for the other system, switch between the Mac and Windows styles in the panel.

What the save states mean

The canvas has no manual save button; the top bar shows status live:

  • Saved: the current content is saved;
  • Saving: edits are being written to the server; Unsaved: there are edits not yet submitted (usually switches to Saving within seconds);
  • Save failed, retrying: a network issue caused a failure and the system retries on its own; as long as you don't close the whole browser app, edits from this time won't be lost; when the server explicitly rejects the save, retrying stops and the reason is shown;
  • Version conflict: rare; two buttons appear — Copy local draft and Reload server copy — better to copy the local draft as a backup first, then reload;
  • Read-only: you have no edit rights right now, for example on someone's read-only shared link; when your personal canvas is open for editing somewhere else, it also turns read-only here with "This canvas is being edited elsewhere", and Edit here instead takes over editing.

Frequently asked

  • Does cancelling refund credits? Cancelling before the model service starts on the request refunds in full; a task that has started can't be cancelled. On failure, watch for the "Refunded N credits" notice on the node;
  • Will edits be lost if I close the browser before a save lands? No; next time you open the canvas it auto-restores edits that didn't sync during the outage;
  • Can a read-only share let others edit? No; to co-edit, put the canvas in a team project and invite them as Editor or above.
⌘/Ctrl+Enter generates, Tab adds a node, ⌘/Ctrl+0 fits · "Save failed, retrying" recovers on its own — no need to act · Cancelling before processing refunds in full; on failure watch for the refund notice
